British Refugee Council: Overcoming Trauma
Specialized mental health services to help refugees rebuild their lives by drawing on the resilience, strength, and skills they acquired on their journey. Experienced and highly qualified therapists employ a variety of evidence-based and proven methods, including:
- Individual counselling – providing intensive support for healing in a safe, private space.
- Psychoeducation – health and wellbeing workshops to help refugees better understand their own situation, promote long-term recovery and mutual support.
- Psychosocial groups – offering refugees the opportunity to reflect on and share their experiences with their peers.
The Stanley Thomas Johnson Foundation has supported several projects by the British Refugee Council in London in recent years:
- In 2016: Rimba. Therapeutic Project for Men, with a project grant of 31,666 GBP.
- In 2017: Flourishing Families. Psycho-therapeutic services for Syrian Refugees with the amount of GBP 35’000.--
- In 2019: My View. With the amount of CHF 90’000.—
- In 2020: Additional contribution of CHF 30’000 for ongoing project, granted to cover additional costs arising as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
- 2022 – 2025: Overcoming Trauma. Psychotherapeutic Services for Young Adults, with a project grant of 300,000 GBP
